You were like a sweet little dream,
That I saw by chance, in my thought's stream.
At first I was enamored by its charm,
It gave my mind a peace and a calm.
Then I loved to see it more often,
Though at first it meant to me just fun.
Slowly it began to take hold of me,
And nights became more dear to me.
Its sweetness increased night after night,
And it looked magnificent in the dreamy moonlight.
I just loved to see it again and again,
Without any particular material gain.
I wanted to pursue it to the very end,
No one I ever wanted to offend.
Then I began to live in my dream,
With unalloyed joy i wanted to scream.
Slowly it started losing its luster,
Though I tried to hold it closer.
Somehow it began to fade way,
And I knew I was losing my way.
Now I realize that dream was never mine,
And it never travelled in my line.
